What is it like to call two countries home? What makes migrants move in the first place and how do they settle in a new society? What keeps them on the move? Where do they belong? On Japanese on the Move: Life Stories of Transmigration fifty individuals share their experiences. Each of them has a unique connection to Japan and Australia and they all have a story to tell. Video-interviewed by Ingrid Piller and Kimie Takahashi, they speak about the joys and challenges of leading transnational lives. Their stories are personal reflections on what it means to be on the move and at home and to belong to two (or more) countries. The journey starts on Language-on-the-Move in October 2011 and over the period of a year you will be able to meet many very different “Japanese on the Move”. 二つの国を「ホーム」として受け入れる、という事はどういう意味なのだろうか？人々はなぜ国境を越え、新しい土地に移り住み、どの様に生活を始めるのだろうか？一つの国に定住しない人もいる。なぜ動き続けるのだろうか？　彼らにとって、「属する」というのはどういう意味なのだろうか？Japanese on the Move: Life Stories of Transmigration ではオーストラリアと日本に所縁の深い50人が登場し、国境を越え生活してきた体験を語ってくれる。聞き手はイングリッド・ピラーと高橋君江 (Macquarie University, Australia)。50人の体験談を通して「移動する」という事はどういう意味なのか、またグローバル化が深まる中、移民にとって「属性」とは何なのかを考えていく。プロジェクトは2011年10月にスタートし、一年間で50名を紹介する。
