Following on from the recently published special issue of Multilingua devoted to “Linguistic Diversity in a time of crisis“, we are pleased to announce an online symposium, where contributors to the special issue will discuss language challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are two events: a Chinese-language event on Friday, Nov 06, 2-4pm Beijing time and an English-language-event on Saturday, Nov 07, 3:30-6pm Beijing time.

I am thinking about the presentation by Xi Chen: the system of ties presented does not look to me, a European, as something specifically East Asian, it seems to work in Europe, too, albeit under other terms and concepts. But I cannot imagine Europeans would use poetry on packages with material help mailed to another European country. The discussant from Germany mentioned that this also was a new idea to him. So there must be a regional cultural peculiarity related to the use of poetry (or art in general?) in international relations…
