Keita Inui

Workaholic Keita Inui moved to Australia for two reasons; he promised his Australian wife, whom he met and married in Osaka, that they would one day live in her hometown, Sydney, and he also wanted to study again. His prior image of the West, modernity and advanced civility, sharply contradicted his experience of racism in his early days in Sydney. Believing that the best way to master English was to engage with local people through work, he embarked on learning animal technology at TAFE some years ago, and he is now working as an animal technician at theUniversity of New South Wales. He is currently studying International business and Chinese at the same university. In this interview video, Keita shares with us the process of becoming qualified as an animal technician, his work experience in Sydney, and his intercultural marriage and family.

自称ワーカホリックの乾馨太さんがオーストラリアに移住して来た理由は二つ。大阪で出会いご結婚されたオーストラリア人の奥様との約束、そしてもおう一度勉強されたかったという事。日本で「人々の意識が高い」という西洋のイメージをもっていたが、来豪後は人種差別等の問題に直面する。英語は地元の人々と仕事を通して習うのが一番と考え、まずTAFEにてアニマルサイエンスを学び、現在アニマルテクニシャンとしてニューサウスウェールス大学で活躍されている。同大学にて国際ビジネスと中国語を専攻中。このインタビューではシドニーでの就労経験とご家族のライフスタイルについてお話いただいた。
